Re: Icomm system

I've got the iComm but never use it. The static burst is really annoying. Same with me. It's a $100 paperweight that I never use. The "auto" mode is delayed and unreliable, and remembering to manually switch it on is a pain. I just go with the Aker amp sans effects. (But I'll likely need ...

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party

Nick, that magma is coming along beautifully! I'd be down for an armor get-together, but I'm not sure I'll have the free time between now and when I jet to the U.K. in two weeks (to teach overseas for a month). All the same, keep me posted and if I'm free, I'd love to jam in. I'll be the one continu...

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party

Many mahalos! I'm super excited to get trooping. It took a village. Special thanks to Ripcode, Brent, Donavon, and all the troopers helping troopers. Can't wait to return the love. :)

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party

Lookin good Jason. Now if this 60+ degree weather can show up any day now, I may be able to start working outside on my armor... Toddler + tools + enclosed spaces = nope. I have to admit I had a LOT of help from my dad, his know-how with tools, and the tools themselves. You really need a second pai...

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party

I've kind of stalled out. Not stopped... just stalled. Hopefully I can pick up again soon... (especially if there is someone that has room to host a party) My kitchen table has been occupied territory for weeks now. Empire expanded to my parents' living room as well, and set up a base last Sunday. ...

Moving along--slowly but surely (?)

Been trying hard to make steady but unrushed progress on my ANOVOS kit. It's been slow going trying to fit this kit to my 6'4", 230 lb frame, but I'm praying it'll at least be serviceable. Anyway, here's a little in-progress shot for morale. :) http://i447.photobucket.com/albums/qq198/jaysondib...

Re: ANN ARBOR metro area TK armor party

I might have posted too soon?! I just made a note on the thread for the Clawson armor party, but Ann Arbor is probably closer for me (I'm coming from Holland). Has a date been set for an Ann Arbor armor party (say THAT three times fast)? Brand noob ANOVOS builder, here, looking for all the guidance ...

Re: DETROIT metro area TK armor party

Just came back from Ripcode's armor party yesterday; three of us Westsiders made some headway on our ANOVOS kits (forearms, shoulder bells, and thermal detonators completely done, and other parts pre-trimmed--BLESS YOU, Ripcode!). But I'm a total fish out of water when it comes to construction-type ...

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party

MASSIVE thanks to Ripcode and Kelly for letting us invade their space and for their expertise, and also to Rockstar Chris for lending your expertise and hard labor. Now I just need to find a way to become 6 inches shorter--too bad we can't troop wearing only forearms and TDs. :-P

Re: GRAND RAPIDS metro area TK armor party

Got the bulk of the pre-trimming done, although I'm sure there will be plenty of cutting ahead as we approach fitting and gluing. Stupid Lexan scissors I ordered won't arrive until Monday (grrr!), so I'm at the mercy of my Xactos and utility knife, unless anyone has scissors or other tools they dare...

Going to start pre-trimming tonight!

Okay, moment of truth: I'm going to start pre-trimming the armor pieces tonight so I can make the most of my time at Ripcode's armor party on Saturday. Been studying the Ukswrath build link like a hawk, and I suspect I'll return to it regularly. But we gotta start somewhere they say. Utility knife, ...

Re: Muskegon - 02/13 - Start time 10:00am

Jayson is coming to my place in Muskegon on 02/13/16 to work on his. Anyone willing to come to Muskegon is welcome to join us. AMEN to this and THANK YOU, Ripcode--ten a.m. sharp! Looking forward to assembling our white, plastic cocoons with all who can join! I'll bring some beer and buy a couple-t...

Re: ANOVOS TK thread

My BBB arrived today! Put on the helmet immediately like a 10-year-old, but I'm intimidated to do anything else without guidance from the experienced ones. Happy to lend my labor to any armor parties we might organize--west siders, where'd you go? Hoping like all get out to get my kit built before t...

Re: ANOVOS TK thread

We have 2 other troopers around your height. The only thing is they have more black undersuit showing in the joint areas between the armor parts. Besides that, you'll still be a Stormtrooper! That's so good to hear! I'm feeling more encouraged. At the outset I'll hope to make the Anovos kit work as...

Thank you both! I'll dig into the event forum and do just as you instructed. There are a few events in West Michigan that I'd like to try and hit up before my armor arrives. Thanks again! --Jayson

How to get started as NCS?

Hi, all, I'm waiting for my ANOVOS pre-order TK kit to arrive so I can join the 501st proper. However, I've heard talk of a thing called non-costume support (NCS), and it's been suggested that I join in that capacity in the meantime. That way I can join troops, meet some of the established members, ...

Re: ANOVOS TK thread

Add me to the club of troopers-to-be waiting anxiously for ANOVOS to start shipping! I sprung for their Black Friday special, so I'm not even looking for the thing until February. I'm really hoping I'll be able to make it work for my 6'4", 230 lb frame. I'm in Holland, Mich., so if any armor pa...
