They need to but up. If you overlap them, tape them, then pencil a straight line down them and cut through both pieces of plastic at the same time, while they are overlapped, then you will be a straight edge and they will but up together. Hope that makes sense.

The problem with doing that is: 1. You will crack it after taking it on and off a few times 2. There needs to be a seam on both sides, so you could glue it, but the seam needs to be visible still. I run 2 9v batteries to one 12v fan and I dont have a problem with burning up the fans. And thats been 5yrs now..

You might already know this, but I would suggest smoothing down the edge of the visor before you put it in. I have seen some cut noses from having sharp edges.
