Hi all! I'm new to the costuming part of the fandom and wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Lori and I live in the Detroit area. I'm a big Star Wars fan and recently just got into the idea of cosplaying. I like the idea of making my own character, so I doubt I'd ever officially join the 501st BUT I like the idea of connecting with other fans in the area that enjoy the same things!

Also, I am a web developer. If you guys want some insight into updating your site in the future, let me know!

Hello there!

What kind of characters were you thinking? 501st is fun. You only have to dedicate 1 day a year to maintain active status. For a multi day event, wear your 501st for 1/2 day and go with your freelance the 2nd 1/2 day. A lot of us do GI Joe, Marvel, video game characters, Ghostbusters, Alien vs Predator and others after we fulfill our 501st obligations.

I mean, I guess I could look into doing an already established character. For my own, I'm making a sith lord but, if doing an established character, I'm unsure and, therefore, have an open mind! I will look around and update here if I find a character I'd like to try

There is a club called The Dark Empire that does OC Sith characters. Not sure if they have any members in Michigan.
