Boot holster

Post by Silverfox »

Unfortunately the front of my holster has cracked both at the top AND bottom. Suggestions for repair? I'd prefer not to have to buy a new one. If I HAVE to, does anyone have one to spare or know where I can get one reasonably priced?

Back the crack with scrap ABS.

Fill the crack with the ABS goop (ABS pieces mixed/melted with Acetone).

Sand, then wet sand until smooth and polish.

Otherwise order a Holster from Moncal on the 501st Legion forum.

About how long does that take to set? I've got a troop tomorrow!

You can back the crack with scrap ABS & CA (Super Glue) and it would be fixed instantly. Lightly sand the crack and scrap ABS before you glue.

You could fix the cosmetic crack later. The ABS goop takes a while to dry.

Where's Duck? He'd have you temporarily fixed up in a couple of minutes!

He's in Mt Clemens, I live in Lansing. It's a bit of a hike! I'm probably just going to have to do something quick & cosmetic since I've got a troop in the morning. Hopefully it'll survive until I get home!

I have a moncal holster coming attached to boots they made me. Kathy from Moncal says everything is finished and on its way. If it is in fact good to go and I'm happy with it when I receive it then.....I will have an extra brand new holster that I received from studio creations I can part with.

If your still in need, and I truly get my Moncal stuff here shortly as promised...I'll drop you a line.

Me too... its the one part I'm a bit intimidated by on this whole build. But I am going to do it myself and not buy them pre made.

www.bikerscout.net has all kinds of tutorials (at least they did, I would assume they still do) as well as a good group of quality suppliers if you want to just buy them.

Ya, there are loads of pics there to build your own pair, plus pics of the soles in case you decide to go Lancer. They don't make the boots from the movie anymore, which sucks, so you have to carve out the pattern yourself.

Trust me. I've read all the tutorials. Still one thing that I'm not looking forward to. I'm also not going to pay 150 + for boots I can make for 40 bucks.
