Get to Know Your MI501st :: April, 2010

Shannon Trombley
Legion ID: 3822
Joined November, 2007

Shannon Trombley has been a fan of Star Wars since the first time she saw "The Empire Strikes Back" on the big screen and was hooked ever since.

"I was fascinated me the most was how did they get those AT-AT Walkers to walk in the movie. I even remember the dream I had after seeing 'The Empire Strikes Back.' In the dream, I was trying to rescue Princess Leia but Darth Vader kept chasing me around her. Like Princess Leia needs to be rescued since she rescues either Luke, Han, or both though out the original trilogy."

Shannon's favorite event so far as a member of both the 501st and the Rebel Legion have been the AJ's Family Fun Park events. "Where can one see Star Wars characters driving around in go-carts, bumper boats, hitting baseballs in a batting cages, and playing putt-putt golf? It's a fun event where the troopers can do more then walk around and have pictures taken of them by people."

About being a 501st member, Shannon says "I don’t think joining the 501st has changed my life so much but it has given me a second family. We have our ups and downs at times, but it seems we always come together for a charity event or for any event for that matter. The way we bring smiles to the fans faces is a great thing to see during events and it shows we are doing some good in this world."

Outside of the Legion, "Stiger1", "Bumpers", "West Side Hussy", or "Panther" as some of us have come to call her is a postal clerk at the Richland Post Office. She sorts the mail to the right routes and waits on customers at the window. She has been with the Postal Service for a total of nine years and with the Richland Post Office for one year in June.

In her personal life, Shannon collects some Star Wars toys/collectibles (especially young Obi-Wan Kenobi). She likes to read Star Wars novels, of which she says "I need to get back into [it] soon because I'm behind in the 'Fate of the Jedi' series."

Shannon likes to watch movies and some television, listen to music, and claims she is on Facebook way too much. Shannon also has received an Associate of Arts degree from Kellogg Community College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She was on the National Dean’s List two years in a row. Shannon has also received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University, and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society.
