One Luke out......and another one in!!!
As many of you may not know, I got rid of my ROTJ Luke costume. Just didn't get much use out of it and very few people knew who I was in it (and after Vader and Chewie, I'm not used to that  ). So I swapped out and just got approval for an ANH Farmboy Luke. http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo...

I know what you meant, Mow.Silverfox wrote:she was wondering if she did would she be able to join us or would she have to be rebel?
I was (half jokingly) referring to this.

1) Go to the White Armor website and research, research, research!!
2) Talk to some of the TKs around here (Hyper, Mow, and a few others) who have vast knowledge of the different armor makers.
3) Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Boba Fett beginner (possibly)
Ron, It sounds like you're going into this with the perfect attitude, which is a very big plus. The most important thing is to make a costume YOU are comfortable with and will enjoy wearing. Personality type is part of the deal as well. If you are going to do Vader, you HAVE to be willing to be &quo...

Re: Shadow scout boots
I'm almost positive they are black soles.
Try sending Witness (David from Ohio) a PM here. He's the Biker Scout detachment leader (I know the Shadow Scout is a Special Ops thing) and also makes the regular Biker Scout boots. He may be able to answer this for you more definately than I.

Re: rare earth magnets?
Don't know what you're looking to do with these, but you don't need really big ones - THEY ARE STRONG!! I used ones in science class that were about 1 1/4 by about 3/4 and I actually dented a metal door sticking the magnets to it. They claimed one that size would pull a metal filling out of your too...

May I present the completed legs to go over the stilts for Chewie........ http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo192/Cblack1971/Chewie/IMG_0555.jpg Once I put the mask on, I will top out at about 7'6" or 7'7" (which is much more accurate as Peter was 7'9" suited up). I think it turned o...

If you send a PM, it will sit in the outbox until the person reads it. Then it will move into your Sentbox.

Goop question
So I found a workable way to do the feet/toes on the Chewie stilts. I'm going to glue the latex toes I have onto some upholstery foam and then attach it to the stilt foot - that will allow the foot to flex while I walk. I bought a couple tubes of Goop to attach the toes to the foam, but I have a que...

Re: Modifications Needed for Vader Suit
Gary, First off WELCOME!!!!! However, you may find that unless you REALLY know your stuff, the modifications that are needed to a Rubies Vader are a very daunting task to say the least. My first suggestion would be to register at http://www.501stsithlords.com. This is the Sith Lord detachment and co...

Re: deduct costs of our costumes on taxes?
The other part of it gets down to percentages as well. As a teacher, I can deduct the cost of a new computer - but only for the percentage of use on that computer that is work related. It's the same thing IF you chose to try and deduct milage - if it's not a charity event, don't even think about it....

Re: where to purchase vader costume pieces?
That's fine - congratulations (I actually did the same thing myself). Just remember that just because a costume is 501st approved for someone else does not automatically guarantee approval for you. The standards have changed and there may be some tweaking to get it to wear and look right ON YOU - th...

Re: deduct costs of our costumes on taxes?
This has been brought up several times and the answer is not really - no.
The 501st is not a charity group. We are a volunteer costume group that sometimes appear at events where money is raised for a charity.

Re: where to purchase vader costume pieces?
And get ready to pay for parts.......
A 501st approvable Vader will run upwards of $2000 and can quickly end up close to $5000 depending on the parts you get.
