Yes an armor party would be great! Especially since IT'S HERE! Got it yesterday!

Also do most people start a build thread both here and on their respective costumes site? If so I will start a build thread here too.

Nope, I love your armor parties, Wags. In fact the majority of the armor parties I’ve been to since I joined the 501st were the social type. But there’s been a few I went to that were the hard core workshop type as well, and since what Jason is proposing is a bunch of people all building the same armor at the same time, figured they should be doing those workshop type sessions to help each other knock out multiple suits at the same time in a timely manner, like an assembly line.

I admit, I'm a list kind of guy, so an assembly line armor party sounds great. Especially since I've never done any of this before and it's more than a little intimidating. There's all kinds of information out there, in the GLG forums, whitearmor, youtube, etc, but hands on with someone's advice of "I wouldn't cut that if I were you" seems like a much better idea.

I'm an eastsider, both in the mitten and within the Metro Detroit area, I work/live in Warren/Macomb. With the amount of $$ tied up in this project and the fact that I've literally been waiting since I saw ANH as a kid to have my own trooper armor, I'd pretty much road trip it anywhere to end up with an outfit to wear proudly.

My Big Brown Boxes haven't shown up yet, so between the threads here and the facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/838545079553903) I know it can't be long now, even though I was a 5/4 order date.

I was hoping that an armor party or 2 would form to tackle this.

Something else. It appears they included the cover strips for the outsides of the biceps, forearms, thighs, calves.....but no inside "cover strips" to brace the back side. So when you guys are cutting your armor parts out of the molds, save that scrap plastic from the larger torso parts. You can cut it into pieces to brace the insides of those clamshelled armor parts that need it. The insides don't have to be one smooth strip like the outside, so even a few smaller pieces glued inside the seams next to each other to create a full "cover strip" is fine. This will do in a pinch if you don't already have scrap ABS sitting around.

The first Anovos TK is finished. The guy is 5’8”, by the way.

2 guys from California worked together on building this one kit. They started Friday, worked on it most of the day Saturday and Sunday and already had sent in the guy’s 501st approval pics by midnight Sunday night.

Looks like they used the overlap method and did not do the trim strips.

Someone actually asked him that same question cause they couldn't see the strips clearly, and he replied with:

"They are all there, they just blend in a lot"

Some minor tips from one of the TK pros about the Anovos kits. Cheap upgrades for more accuracy.... 4 screws and matching nuts. Here's what he said:

1.) The helmet screws on the sides are incorrect. The correct screws are the brass ones on the right. available anywhere 4-40 brass machine screws. You will need the nuts as well. Paint the tops white after installation.

2.) Your Thermal detonator came with the incorrect screws shown on the right. The correct ones can be found ON YOUR HELMET!! Shown on the left. You just need to paint them black prior to installation or dab them with a marker.

This is definitely a good thread to follow. Tony is one of two FISD Deployment officers so he and Andrew (Sly11) are the guys that approve TK armor for EIB and Centurion level.
