Another Successful Fundraiser!

On May 12th, the GLG trooped at the 2nd Annual MDA Fundraiser at Big Ben's Comix Oasis. Stormtroopers, R2-D2, Captain America, Tinkerbell, G.I. Joes, and several other superheroes showed up to greet customers. Thanks to a raffle with dozens of prizes, character sketches by artists Scott Zambelli & Laura Laurain, and a portion of the store's sales for the day; over $3,000 was raised for research toward finding a cure for spinal muscular atrophy!

We would like to thank MJR Digital Cinemas for hosting a great event in Westland 2/12. In addition to hosting, they gave a generous donation of $1,000.00 to the Make a Wish foundation. An additional $237.00 was donated by the guests for a grand total of $1237.00. We look forward to doing another event with you next year.

Happy New Year from the Great Lakes Garrison. After tonight's Cherry Ball Drop event in Traverse City, we will have completed 152 events in 2011! This makes us one of the most active Garrisons in the 501st Legion.Thank you for coming out to support us and the charities that we work with throughout the year. We have big plans and will continue the momentum in 2012!

Sat., 7/7: West Michigan White-Caps Star Wars Night (Comstock Park, MI)
Mon., 7/9: Autos for Autism (Garden City, MI)
Sat., 7/14: Highland Library - Star Wars Event (Highland, MI) A Star Wars program with the focus on reading and Star Wars. Pictures with characters and Star Wars crafts for the kids.
Sat., 9/15: REMAX of Midland Balloon Festival (Midland, MI) REMAX of Midland Balloon Festival is in its 22nd year as a free community event that attracts 65-70 hot air balloons and over 20,000 spectators during the course of the weekend. There will be a collection non-perishable food throughout the weekend for local food pantries.
